Surgical Dental

Surgical dental procedures usually involve procedures to fix or improve dental and oral health problems. Commonly performed surgical dental procedures can be listed as follows:

• Tooth Extraction: Tooth extraction is usually necessary due to severe decay, a cracked tooth, inflammation, or a condition where the tooth is not properly positioned in the jawbone. Tooth extraction can be carried out under local anesthesia.
• Dental Implants: Dental implants can be used to integrate false teeth in the jawbone in case of tooth loss. This surgical procedure involves the placement of implants in the jawbone and, after a recovery period, a denture can be fitted.
• Oral Surgery: This is an umbrella term and usually covers a variety of surgical procedures inside the mouth.
  For instance, removal of oral cysts or tumors, soft tissue surgery, and maxillofacial surgery are included in this category.
• Clipping the tongue tie (Lingual Frenulectomy): In case the tongue tie (lingual frenulum) is too short or thick, speech and swallowing problems may occur. Clipping the tongue tie may be a surgical option to remedy this situation.
• Gum Surgery (Periodontal Surgery): Periodontal surgery is performed to treat gum diseases. These surgical procedures can be performed to clean gum pockets, correct the gum level or smooth the surface of the tooth root.
• Apical Resection: This is performed to treat an infection at the root tip of a tooth. Infected tissues are removed and the root tip is trimmed.
• Scar Suture (Suture): Surgical procedures usually involve scar suturing. This helps the surgical site to heal.

Each surgical procedure should be carefully planned beforehand and performed by considering the patient's general health condition, oral health, and potential risks. Surgical dental procedures are usually performed under local anesthesia, but general anesthesia can also be used for more major operations. Postoperative care and recovery should be followed in accordance with the patient's own wishes.
