The procedure starts with liposuction to remove fat, usually from the abdomen, waist and back.
It then involves processing and purifying the fat. The purified fat is then injected into specific areas of the buttocks to achieve the desired augmentation.

The fat injected in BBL operations is long-lasting, but not all of it is permanent.  The reabsorption of these fats in the body varies according to the person's lifestyle, age factor, genetics and weight changes.

In the postoperative period, it is important not to sit for a while to protect the injected fat cells. After the operation, patients will be given a special BBL pillow or cushion to use. These cushions are designed to distribute pressure away from the buttocks, allowing patients to sit without direct pressure on the treated area. Patients may also be advised to alternate between sitting and standing or lying down to minimize pressure on the buttocks. Since the surgery is performed under general anesthesia, patients do not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. After surgery, discomfort is to be expected, but pain is typically managed with prescribed medication. The level of pain can vary from one individual to another.

The recovery time after Brazilian butt surgery is variable.  However, the patient may resume light activities after the first week. Strenuous activities and sitting directly on the buttocks may be restricted for several weeks to promote optimal recovery.

Touch-up procedures after BBL can be applied according to the patient's expectations. Your surgeon may recommend another operation other than BBL according to the desired result. Long-term results in BBL surgeries are directly related to weight gain and loss.

Some initial results can be seen immediately after BBL surgery. However, it may take from 1 month to 6 months for the swelling due to edema to subside. Lymph drainage massages are usually recommended to speed up the process of edema removal.

Many people prefer to combine BBL with other cosmetic procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck or breast augmentation. You and your doctor can decide on the combination options according to your individual needs and suitability.

Having a BBL procedure after or during the buttock implant may make it difficult for the injected fat to sustain and to have a blood supply. Combining these two procedures may increase the risk of complications and may not create the desired cosmetic appearance.

After BBL surgery, 50%-60% of the injected fat is absorbed within the first year. For this reason, your surgeon may inject a little more fat than necessary during the procedure.  After the fat is absorbed, the remaining amount of fat is permanent.

To prolong fat survival times and maintain the shape of the buttocks, patients are usually advised to avoid sitting on their buttocks for long periods of time for several weeks after surgery.  When sitting is necessary, special pillows or cushions may be recommended to relieve pressure.

It is recommended not to exercise or diet for the first 3-4 weeks after surgery. After the first month, you can resume exercise with light cardio. However, you should wait 2 months for heavy workouts.
